New hours and menu at Mai Tiki

Mai Tiki in Ferndale is expanding both its menu and hours, introducing Hawaiian-style barbecue and a fresh lineup of poke bowls now available six days a week. Operating inside Tigerlily, the tiki bar–speakeasy hybrid has long been a low-key destination for tropical cocktails and intimate gatherings. To boost visibility, Mai Tiki has added Thursday evening service and broadened its carryout schedule, now offered Tuesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to close. Dine-in hours run 4–10 p.m. Thursdays and 4–11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The updated menu features a range of smoked meats and island-inspired dishes, including banana leaf-wrapped Kalua pork, dry-rubbed ribs, Korean sticky ribs, brisket, smoked chicken, and wings tossed in huli huli, Buffalo, or Korean sauces. Sandwiches are served on house-made Japanese milk bread, while customizable poke bowls offer lighter options with proteins like tuna, salmon, shrimp, tofu, and more. Executive Chef Bruce Allen, a veteran pitmaster who joined Hometown Restaurant Group in 2024, brings a fusion of Texas barbecue with Asian and Hawaiian influences. Meanwhile, Tigerlily has streamlined its dinner menu — removing ramen, sushi, and several entrees — to adapt to shifting costs and supply challenges while maintaining consistency for staff and guests. 231 W Nine Mile Road Suite B, Ferndale maitikibar.com
