Beverly Hills Grill will recreate one of the wine world’s most celebrated moments when it presents “The Judgment of Beverly Hills” at 6 p.m. Monday, September 14. Inspired by the historic Judgment of Paris, the intimate evening will feature a guided blind tasting of eight premium wines from France and California’s Napa Valley, paired with a four-course menu. Guests will evaluate each wine before its identity is revealed, creating an interactive experience inspired by the 1976 competition that transformed the international reputation of American wine. Chef Ryan Zagor’s menu will begin with a bright citrus salad, followed by ahi tuna. Steak prepared with new fall flavors will anchor the main course, while decadent dark chocolate will conclude the evening. “Each course will be thoughtfully paired to complement the structure, aromas and flavor profiles of the featured wines,” Zagor said. The tasting will include Château Ducasse, a Bordeaux producer known for expressive wines made with Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Its Bordeaux Blanc is fermented and aged in stainless steel, preserving citrus, fruit and mineral characteristics. The dinner commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris, held May 24, 1976. Organized by British wine merchant Steven Spurrier, the blind tasting pitted acclaimed French wines against California selections that were then relatively unknown internationally. “This dinner encourages people to set aside labels and reputations and simply decide what they enjoy,” said owner Raphael Michael. The cost of the event is $100 per person; prepaid reservations are required.
