Joe Vicari Restaurant Group announced that its flagship Joe Muer Seafood brand will open inside the upcoming JW Marriott Detroit Water Square, with a debut planned alongside the hotel’s January 2027 opening. Originally announced as an Andiamo location, Joe Vicari Restaurant Group later reimagined the concept as Joe Muer Seafood as part of its commitment to keeping the iconic brand rooted in the city of Detroit. The new restaurant, Joe Muer Seafood + Chops at Water Square, will combine the brand’s renowned seafood offerings with an expanded selection of prime and Wagyu steaks, along with additional elevated menu items. Joe Vicari, owner of Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, said the concept was developed to meet growing customer demand while introducing the legendary brand to a new generation of diners. Executive Chef Najwa Mansour, a more than 20-year veteran of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, will lead the culinary program, blending Joe Muer’s established legacy with a contemporary dining experience. The restaurant’s interior, designed by Detroit native Colin Tury of Tury Design, will feature a modern, sophisticated atmosphere inspired by the luxury aesthetic of the JW Marriott brand. Located on the hotel’s first floor along the Detroit Riverwalk, the 7,700-square-foot restaurant will seat 220 guests across its dining room, bar and lounge areas, private wine room, and semi-private dining space. Additional features include chef’s table seating overlooking an open kitchen and waterfront views from nearly every seat. Joe Muer Seafood + Chops will join the broader Water Square mixed-use development, which also includes residential, transit, and pedestrian-focused amenities designed to reshape Detroit’s waterfront.
