Prime Concepts Detroit is bringing its signature Italian dining experience to downtown Detroit with the announcement of Aurora Italiana Detroit, a new restaurant opening later this year inside the historic Michigan Oriental Theater in Grand Circus Park, the former home of PAO Detroit. Inspired by the warmth and authenticity of a traditional Italian trattoria, Aurora Italiana Detroit will feature a rustic atmosphere that celebrates timeless Italian hospitality while thoughtfully preserving the architectural character and history of one of Detroit’s most iconic buildings. “Our goal is to create an experience that honors both the incredible history of this landmark building and the timeless appeal of Italian hospitality,” said Joe Barbat, chairman & CEO of Barbat Holdings and Prime Concepts Detroit. The space, formerly home to PAO Detroit, was recognized by PEOPLE Magazine and OpenTable as one of “The 50 Most Beautiful Restaurants in America” for 2024. Aurora Italiana Detroit will build upon that legacy while introducing a fresh culinary vision rooted in authentic Italian tradition. The restaurant will accommodate approximately 110 guests across its first and second floors and feature an inviting open-kitchen concept, allowing diners to experience the energy and craftsmanship behind every dish. Aurora Italiana Detroit will showcase authentic Italian cuisine centered on traditional recipes, premium ingredients and elevated hospitality. Staying true to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and authenticity, all breads, pastas and sauces will be made in-house daily, and the kitchen will operate completely seed oil-free. 114 W. Adams Ave, Suite 200, Detroit
