Hooray for Mare!

Mare Mediterranean (fittingly, Mare, pronounced Maa-ray, rhymes with Hooray) is open for business in the former Cameron’s Steakhouse space at 115 Willits in Birmingham. According to owner Nino Cutraro, there’s plenty to celebrate in this new and vibrant space. The stellar menu will offer guests the opportunity to select their own fish and have it prepared in a number of different ways. Guests can choose preparations such as “aqua pazza,” in which the fish is baked in white wine, fennel, onion, caper, tomato and fingerling potatoes, or a simple pan fry with crispy vegetables, lemons and a caper emulsion – just to name a few. In addition to fish, the menu includes a crudo raw bar, pastas, risottos, steaks, chops and plenty of sides and salads. Hours of operation are Tuesday-Thursday, 4:30-11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 4:30-11:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 4:30-9 p.m.
