Brunching around town

The brunch menu at The Morrie Birmingham – 260 N. Old Woodward – just launched but Aaron F. Belen, of AFB Hospitality Group, already has a favorite dish – their chicken and waffles. “That dish is amazing,” he said. “I think we do that really, really well, and everybody is blown away by it.” Other items on the brunch menu – served on Saturdays and Sundays – includes staples from The Morrie Royal Oak as well as new selections, like their Chicken Taquitos and Pastrami Salmon Signature Flatbread. The drinks menu includes mimosas and seasonal cocktails. The Morrie isn’t the only spot to recently launch a brunch menu. Eastern Market’s Anthology Coffee – 1948 Division Street, Detroit – began a weekly waffle brunch on Sundays in early November. As of November 9, guests at Laika Dog – located inside UFO Factory, 2110 Trumbull Avenue, in Detroit’s Corktown – can get brunch on Sundays, with a menu of breakfast egg rolls, corn cakes, and waffle dogs. Metro Intelligencer is a monthly column devoted to news stories, tidbits and gossip items about what's happening on the restaurant scene in the metro Detroit area.
